West Mifflin, PA – September 30, 2019 – State Representative Bill Kortz and Senator Pam Iovino will co-host a free shredding event this Saturday, October 5th from 10 AM to noon at the West Mifflin #3 Volunteer Fire Company (3722 Rodeo Drive, West Mifflin, PA 15122).

“With the number of incidents of identity theft becoming more common, shredding sensitive documents you no longer need is the best way to protect against identity theft and financial fraud,” said Rep. Bill Kortz (D-Allegheny). “This event provides a good opportunity to safely dispose of these documents and lessen the chances of someone gaining access to your personal information. In addition, you’re also protecting the environment, as the shredded paper will be recycled.”

“If you have unneeded documents that contain sensitive information, I invite residents to take advantage of this free and convenient way to safely shred and recycle those papers,” said Senator Pam Iovino (D-Allegheny & Washington). “It is important that we serve our residents both in Harrisburg and in the communities where they live. I am glad to partner with Rep. Bill Kortz to offer this very popular service.”

The event will also serve to collect non-perishable food, hygiene, and cleaning supply donations for Operation Troop Appreciation. Donations are greatly appreciated but are not required to participate in the free shredding event.

Residents are asked to remove all binder clips from materials prior to shredding. This event is open only to individuals, not businesses.
