Harrisburg, PA – October 29, 2019 – Today, Senator Pam Iovino (D-Allegheny & Washington) was appointed as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

“I am very excited to be appointed to and serve on the Appropriations Committee, whose decisions have such a significant impact on Pennsylvania and its citizens,” said Senator Pam Iovino. “Responsible and good fiscal stewardship of taxpayer dollars is fundamental to good government.”

Senator Iovino joins the Appropriations Committee as a Minority member. The Committee is chaired by Senator Pat Browne (R-Lehigh) and Senator Vincent Hughes (D-Montgomery & Philadelphia).   

“I am pleased to welcome Senator Iovino as a member of one of the most important committees in Harrisburg,” Senator Pat Browne said. “The responsibility of the members of this committee is to review all legislation to determine the fiscal impact it will have on the Commonwealth, its tax payers and its citizens. In addition, this committee is charged annually with developing the state’s $34 billion budget and the related budget bills. I thank Senator Iovino for her interest in and commitment to the fiscal affairs of the Commonwealth and I look forward to working with her on the Appropriations Committee for the betterment of all Pennsylvanians.”

The Appropriations Committee reviews and approves the annual allocation of funding to state agencies and other recipients of Pennsylvania government funds. The committee is also charged with considering the fiscal impact of all legislation presented to the Senate for a vote.
